Being a science and tech. University does mody university has the same quality of education for liberal arts??
Hello Shreya Dwivedi,
Aim of a liberal arts education:
- It enables an individual to cultivate his own thinking, intellect and imagination for his own sake. This education enables a person to serve himself and get the best out of his capabilities without becoming pawns of the state and its policies.
- It provides education to individuals in various disciplines helping them in various walks of life, this will develop students into hoilistic individuals and leaders with a philosophical edge to their thinking.
- The curriculum of a liberal arts programme is spread across various courses like arts, humanities, natural science and social science. Along with which there are various creative arts like art, music, theatre and creative writing offered to students.
- A liberal arts education make an individual think, learn and communicate so that even with the changing world and theories revolving aroung certain subjects, a student of liberal arts will easily be able to pave his way through them and come out a victor.
- There is a lot of critical thinking, reading, writing, speaking and communication involved in a liberal arts programme. This is to ensure that you are introduced to multiple ideas of the past and present and thus you can easily formulate an opinion keeping in mind these ideas.
- This education also inculcates skills like team work, analytical and social thinking, communication and discipline in an individual, paving way towards his holistic development.
Most of the liberal arts courses in India offer you a wide array of subjects along with which you have major and minor subjects to which you pay maximum attention to. For a liberal arts programme to be completely effective, it should be of four years in order to successfully inculcate all necessarily values this course plans on giving.
Mody Univrsity is a very reknown university for higher education, however it has a fairly new liberal arts programme with little to no information about the programme online. It will be a risk to go in a university about which you know nothing, and have no idea about the batches which have graduated or the placements they have got.
I, being a liberal arts student myself, would advise you not to take such a risk. A liberal arts education is a very critical educational course and thus before joining a programme for this you need to be 100% sure whether it is successfully fulfilling all parameters. Mody University is new and has had no graduating batch so far and thus it is very hard to judge how good an education it will provide. Like I said before, it is a little risky to join this course, it might turn out to be amazing, however if it does not it will become very hard for you to keep up.
Before making a decision on whether or not to join this university, do look at the programme structure of other liberal arts colleges in India and then come to an informed decisions as to which university is best for you and what programme and which university suits you the best.
All the best!
I hope this helps!
Do revert back in case of any doubts.
As you know this university have good faculty of science. So I think they will not leave arts courses they will try to give same quality to all the courses. But I want to suggest you to get in touch with this university students. To get in touch you may follow them on facebook and talk about their university.
But science is very tough than others so if they can make good education in science. Most probably they will do awesome in arts.
