Being an indian resident can I take adMission in IIM based on my GMAT scores and will they consider it before CAT score or what is the crit.
Hello Raman ,
If you want to get admission into IIM, you ned to clear the CAT cut off. Only Non resident Indians are eligible for admission through GMAT exam.
There are other colleges which accept GMAT score , but not IIMs.
Regards
CAT is Common Aptitude Test conducted by IIM's every year to get into their Program.
For, MBA Top 3 are IIM-A, IIM-C , IIM-B.
Getting into IIM's is only by CAT, As CAT Exam is specifically designed by different IIM's itself.
So, IIM only consider CAT Score, and thry do not consider GMAT score
I would suggest you to give CAT , since you're an Indian resident and you can secure your seat in IIM's
GMAT top Bschool is ISB-H, which only accept GMAT score , so you can try there too.
Hope your doubts are cleared.
All the best for your future !
Happy Learning.
Hello Raman
I would straightaway suggest you to opt for CAT exam if you are determined to go for esteem and august institutes of IIM. As the exam itself conducted by IIM Ahemdabad however pattern for the exam and schedule done by other branches of IIMs. They strictly require CAT score and seat allotments are done on the basis of score gained plus academics and work experience.
But if you are hoping for some other top B-schools of India or of foreign go can surely go for GMAT or GRE. Wherein you have added benefit of taking the exam for than once a year.

If you are an Indian resident, then IIMs will consider only CAT score.
GMAT scores are accepted only for non Indian residents.
CAT is an exam conducted and hosted by IIMs for selecting students exclusively for IIMs , though CAT scores are considered standardized for admission to any premium B-school now , except a few which conduct their own aptitude tests like XAT for Xavier's, IIFT, etc.
And then there are few colleges who consider CAT for preliminary shortlist then conduct their own course specific exams like MICAT for MICA, IRMASAT for IRMA, etc.
All the best!
