Best books for MBBS course 1st year as well as full course
Hey,
There are a lot of books available but you need to choose the one that you find comprehensible. Info in all books is nearly same, just arranged differently.
- For Anatomy -
- BD Chaurasia - the pet book
- Grey's Anatomy - for PG level but you can still refer to it for all your doubts. Plus it has beautiful diagrams.
- Cunningham - for dissection.
- Histology - DiFiore’s is the standard book but still u can refer to other books like Inderbir’s, Krishna Garg’s (editor of BDC) and G P Pal.
- Embryology - Inderbir is comprehensible but Langman is standard book.
- Neuroanatomy - Vishram Singh or even Inderbir Singh would go.
- No particular book for radiology in 1st yr as u will only be taught the basics.
- For Physiology -
- Ganong’s Review (Lange/Elsevier - USMLE books) - the standard one but loaded with info which u may not require in 1st professionals and sometimes hard to understand too.
- Guyton & Hall - the story book. Easier to understand and the one which builds our concepts.
- A K Jain - though very popular among students but u will find most of the professors saying - read it at ur own risk :P. It's the book from which u can know how to write in exams.
- Sembulingum - very good book. Somewhere between AK Jain & Guyton.
- For practicals - G K Pal, AK Jain, C. L Ghai
- For Biochemistry -
- Dinesh Puri - somethings missing here but given in SK
- S K Gupta - somethings missing here but given in DP. So I would advice buy SK and refer to DP from library.
- DM Vasudevan - a great one from Indian author’s point of view.
- Harper - the standard book (Lange)
- For immunology - SK Gupta if you want to read Indian author. Kuby is the standard book.
- Lippincott - you need not read whole of it but refer for some topics like Diabetes mellitus, Obesity etc which are Long Ques topics.
Hope this helps.
