It depends from student to student and what their personal preference is.Many students crack GATE with self preparations and many crack with coaching too.However i would like to mention you that coaching can only guide you and at the end its you who has to put the hardwork and dedication with self preparation.So, if you are totally blank and you don't know how to start and where to start and there is nobody to guide you then i would suggest you to get some online course and that will definitely help.If you have financial issue then go through various YouTube videos of toppers and write down their strategy and based on that make your own strategy because at the end Coaching is catalyst and you are reactant.
