between how much ranks should we have to get if we want to get a seat in any medical college? like for me people around me say to get atleast below 1000 rank in neet so i was reading post related to that and saw a person who got 2080 rank got seat in medical college in kolkata ....

The admission in Medical college for MBBS/BDS is quite a complex procedure. There are numerous factors that affect your admission in college such as your marks, rank, category etc.
Now admission into medical colleges in India is done on the basis of two Counseling-
• All India Quota, AIQ counseling
• State Counseling
Admission to medical colleges through AIQ Counseling requires very high marks, hence it is said if you wish to get college through AIQ you need to get atleast rank under 1000. This is further affected by reservation alloted to different categories. A general category candidate has to score more marks comparatively to SC and ST category candidates. As cut off for medical colleges differ for different categories.
During state counseling the cut off for medical colleges is generally lower compared to All India Quota Counseling.
if you are a general category candidate, try to score 620+ marks to get admission in decent Government Medical College.
cut-offs for colleges change every depending upon several factors such as-
• Number of applicants in NEET exam
• NEET question paper difficulty level
• Score of the candidates in NEET 2021 result
• MBBS/BDS seat matrix 2021
NEET 2021 Cut-off goes like :-
• General /EWS- 50th percentile
• SC/ST/OBC - 40th percentile
• General-PwD - 45th percentile
• SC/ST/OBC-PwD - 40th percentile
Marks wise cut off is as following-
• General - 720-138
• OBC/SC/ST - 137-108
• Gen PwD - 137-122
• (OBC /SC / ST ) PwD - 121-108
Following are the reservation that are given to the candidates of various categories-
• 10% seat reservation for GEN-EWS candidates, (candidates whose family income is less than Rs 8 Lakh per annum)
• 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste(SC) Students.
• 7.5% seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students.
• 27% seats are reserved for OBC-NCL candidates only in colleges run by central government.
• 5% of seats are reserved for Person with Disability PwD. This is a horizontal reservation which means that 5% of all seats reserved for various categories are reserved for candidates with disability from that category.
