Books in BDS for 1St year Gujarat
Anatomy :
1.Human Anatomy (Supex, Infex, Head & Neck, Abdomen, Neuro) : B D Chaurasia (4 parts)
2.The 4th part of BDC is about Neuroanatomy. You can use Neuroanatomy by Vishram Singh instead.
3.Histology : I B Singh
4.General Anatomy : AKD
5.For osteology I personally think you should not buy any books because we have so many books to study. Adding one more will be hectic. Read osteology from BDC.
•I personally suggest these two books if you don't get time to make notes for Anatomy (you must make notes because it is very vast. And memorisation is hard because it's volatile). Read S. N. Kaji as notes. (2 parts) The answers written there so to the point and apt. The schematic diagrams are easy to memorise. Use them for revision. There are some mistakes, consult text books for them.
Biochemistry:
1.For biochemistry you can follow Satyanarayana MBBS version. The book is vast and huge but you’ll get everything covered. Buy Mastering BDS or Quick review BDS and highlight the questions, don't look for the answers. Solve the questions from the text book.
Physiology :
1.Debasis Pramanik as textbook
2.Buy Sembulingam MBBS for reference
Dental Anatomy & Oral Histology :
1.Orbans for DAOH. (Read it thoroughly, everything it has. Because it will be your basis for the future dental subjects. Specifically the initial chapters of Orbans should be thoroughly read)
2.To skim the whole book before the exam day read Kabita Chatterjee. It's a very thin and small book. Free of mistakes. With a lot of diagrams.
3.I will suggest you to make your own notes because Orbans is largely essay based book. You need to sum up the concepts.
4.For tooth morphology read the respective chapters from Wheelers. You must read the tooth numbering system very well because it will help you in clinic and the tooth morphology which would be required till you are in the dentistry profession.
If it help do let me know. Thankyou
