Dear student,

There is no difference between two roles in career wise except salary wise. BSc agriculture officer salary offered by the companies will start from 15000/- to 50000/- per month and BSc horticulture officer salary offered by the companies will start from 15000/- to 25000/- per month.

BSc agriculture:

Agriculture is one of the highest industries across the country. You will get government jobs through this course in anywhere in India with highest package up to 15lacks per year. It produces the quality food with good farming services.

BSc horticulture:

This is the main stream in agriculture and it is included with fruits, vegetables, flowers. You can also get government jobs in this with highest package of 9 lacks per year.

Career wise both are better but salary wise BSc agriculture is best. You know horticulture is one of the highest stream in agriculture.

Hope this is helpful to you,

Thank you.

Hello,

Hope you are doing great! Here's your answer!

In the matter of employment opportunities and higher education, B.sc Agriculture is better than B.sc Horticulture. Competitive exams such as UPSC, FCI, and other government jobs abound after BSc in Agriculture. Public and private companies also offer jobs, many who come for campus placements too. Options go on to journalism in the agricultural sector, state government jobs, insurance sector jobs, research, and teaching

B.sc Horticulture :- Bachelor of Science in Horticulture Science, also known as BSc Horticulture, is a 3 to 4 years long undergraduate degree course which deals with the science of breeding (both Conventional and Hybrid) vegetables, cereals, fruits, orchids and other plants.

Horticultural practices produce a range of products that are of considerable value to humankind. These include fresh and processed products from fruit and vegetable crops which provide essential food, and minerals and vitamins that are critical to human nutrition. These food products can counter the many negative factors that are impacting on human life from pollution, stress and lack of exercise.

BSc Agriculture :-  BSc Agriculture is a 4-year undergraduate course that primarily focuses on research and practices in agricultural science, dealing with disciplines like Genetics and Plant Breeding, Agricultural Microbiology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, etc. in India, there are still some small farmers that use the old traditional methods of agriculture because they lack the resources to use modern methods. Furthermore, this is the only sector that contributed to the growth of not only itself but also of the other sector of the country.

BSc Agriculture degree equips a student with the knowledge and skills that will help them to manage agri-preneurship, to conduct research, work in agricultural field, conduct field surveys and manage different areas of farming practices.

All the best!

Hope it will help!

Thank you!

But don't you think horticulture has less job saturation as compared to Agriculture. Are there any demerits, of taking horticulture over agriculture?

Dear Aspirant, if you see in the matter of employment opportunities and higher education BSc Agriculture is better than BSc Horticulture. But BSc Agriculture and BSc Horticulture are two popular courses in the filed of agriculture.  I hope you are clear now. If you have any other queries feel free to ask. All The Best!!!

But don't you think Agriculture has more job saturations when compared to Horticulture. Plus are there any demerits if I'll opt of Horticulture instead?
