bsc biomedical science in ramachandra university or bsc biotechnology in manipal university which is best
Hello,
* BSC Biomedical Science in Ramachandra University:
- The department is offering a four year B.Sc. (Hons) program in Biomedical Science. Their aim is to produce highly trained and skilled biomedical scientists who have flexible career opportunities, and can make valuable contribution to continuing growth in medical knowledge and to the future of development of new diagnostic tools, understanding the underlying mechanisms of action of various drugs and modulating their action using molecular methods, computer designing and gene therapy. The students can also be absorbed as highly skilled technologist and Scientists in several R&D Pharmaceutical companies, Genetics, Diagnostic laboratories, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics laboratories.
- The program offers the students an opportunity to get trained in the trust areas of millennium in the medical field of Bioinformatics, Biotechnology &Human Genetics. The students study wide range of subjects covering Biochemistry, Physiology, Anatomy, Genetics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Tissue engineering, Bioinstrumentation and Bioinformatics. Under the choice based system, students also have the flexibility to choose between wide varieties of courses. A strong broad comprehensive understanding of biomedical research, reinforced by a strong practical laboratory component fosters a congenial environment and opening to pursue higher degree and employment. The alumni of this programme are doing higher studies in India and around the world including USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, Singapore and Canada.
- The College of Biomedical Sciences technology and research, introduced four year B.Sc. Biomedical Sciences course in 2006 in Sri Ramachandra University. The curriculum and syllabus for the course was developed by the college in association with the other constituent colleges (medical college, dental college, College of allied health sciences, college of nursing and college of pharmacy) of Sri Ramachandra University to promote Biomedical Research. In a short span the department of biomedical sciences achieved enormous popularity because of its deterministic and enthusiastic students and the dedicated faculty members. The B.Sc. Biomedical Sciences is designed for students seeking a focused, in-depth foundation in the field of the biological and medical sciences. The department of Biomedical Sciences also believes and practice best teaching-learning practices and provides wide opportunities for students to develop their personalities through collaborative learning. The curriculum is built on credit based system of evaluation.
- Eligibility Criteria is Pass in HSC (2) or equivalent qualification with English and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology; (or) Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology; (or) Physics, Chemistry, Microbiology/ Biochemistry, Biotechnology.
* The Manipal School of Life Sciences (MSLS), Manipal established in 2002, became an independent identity in 2006 and is one of the top biotechnological institutes of the country.
- MSLS is identified as TIFAC-CORE (Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council - Centres of Relevance & Excellence) under vision 2020 in the area of Pharmacogenomics. It actively promotes advanced research in India and abroad, supported by DBT, GOI in Translational Medicine, ICMR, DST, BRNS, and several other industry partners.
- The mission statement of the center is to engage in cutting edge research, training, education and offer help to the community in the field of human health.
* The BSc Biotechnology program is offered by the Manipal School of Life Sciences. The curriculum includes :
- Interactive teaching sessions
- 60% of the time in laboratory training
- Weekly seminars on advanced topics
- A Mandatory research project at the end of term
* Career Opportunities :
- Biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry
- Higher degree in India or abroad.
* Assessment :
- Each student must pass examinations in all subjects in all semesters to get the degree.
- The minimum is 50% in all subjects (theory, practical and project).
- Students have two internal assessments and one external assessment every semester.
- Internal assessment (IA) includes performance in two sessional examinations, the average of which results in the IA marks.
- Students who do not score at least 40% of IA marks (average of two IA examinations) are not eligible to appear for the external (University) examinations.
- For the final marks in each theory subject (out of 100), 30% of the IA marks and 70% of the University examinations are considered. For practical subjects (out of 100), the distribution will be 25% internal and 75% external (University) marks.
- Students who do not have an aggregate of 50% marks when both IA and external examination marks are declared to have failed in that subject.
- A student should complete a minimum of 60% of the total credits of the first two semesters to be eligible to progress to the 2nd year, and complete a minimum of 75% of the total credits of the previous four semesters to be eligible to progress to the 3rd year. However, a student should complete all the credits of the previous five semesters before appearing for 6th semester research project work viva voce examination of the university.
- In order to pass all the subjects, a candidate is permitted not more than four chances (actual examination), provided the four chances are completed in two years from the date of the first attempt.
- Research projects have an internal assessment (out of 50 marks) and also external assessment, as viva voce (out of 200 marks).
* According to my opinion, both the above universities have their own plus points & advantages in terms of providing with best education, infrastructure & positive atmosphere. But I personally feel & will strongly recommend to go for BSC Biotechnology in Manipal University as it is the best between the two according to me.
* Hope this information helps !!
* Good Luck !!
Hey,
To be very honest both of the subjects have almost same syllabus and it hardly make any difference which field you will choose . For better decision I will suggest you to go through the syllabus of both the subjects and the one you find interesting and have calibre for you should go with that.
Now coming to the college, Manipal University main Branch is far better as compared to the rest of the colleges in terms of everything.The University is among the best university of India.
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
