Hey Naren! There is not any specific  degree for CA . CA is totally based on accountancy .

As you are science student and doing bsc you should go for bsc maths honours it will be bit helpful for you.

For pursuing CA you have two option now

Foundation course

foundation course it is for entrance in CA couse and  you are eligible to give this exam after 12th, stream doesn't  matter. And as I know it is advantage for science student to appear in CA foundation exam because of maths. But yes you have to make a good grip on fundamental of accounting also.

CA ipcc

This is next level after the entrance by ca foundation. But after completing your bsc. Or graduation from any stream you can go for direct entry.

Process for Direct entry scheme

Register your self with Institute of chartered accountant of India  ICAI in the final year of your graduation for the intermediate course.

After registration you have to complete your information technology and orientation course .This is basically of 8 months course.

Now after 6 Months of completion you can appear for CA intermediate  for both or single group.

After passing both group of intermediate you have to register for Articleship training

Articleship training for CA student is very helpful and must. You will also get stipend for it. It is of 3 years training, but you will get to learn Practically everything you studied in Ipcc.

Now finally you are eligible for CA final after 3years of training you can appear for final exam and after passing you become CA

So the above are the two way you can go for CA while pursuing your bsc 2nd year and yes maths can support you in foundation level in QA very much.

You have to be very motivated and innovative and most important you have work hard after all this profession is  demanding nowadays and pay highly for your good effort .

My best wishes for you career in CA dear!

Hello Naren,

There isn’t any specific degree requirement in order to study for CA.

However courses in the commerce stream are more helpful as a few subjects/topics overlap. That helps in the preparation for the exams.

If you are doing B.Sc with mathematics there wouldn’t be anything common in the two courses and would require extra efforts.

Also career wise the B.Sc degree wouldn’t add any extra value in the job market.

Hope this helps.

All the best
