Both the subjects are interelated and both are providing wide range of career choices. Both the fields are providing great employment opportunities.
According to me microbiology is a vast field with Biotechnology being a part of this bigger picture. Animal Biotechnology, plant Biotechnology and microbial Biotechnology are all part of microbiology.
If you are interested in Biotechnology then you can study Biotechnology as a special paper in Msc microbiology. Btech Biotechnology has better job options.
Institute of bio research and sustainable development and panacea biotech provide research job opportunities for msc holders in Microbiology. In india iiser, niser and iacs are leading research institutes. This 2 are interelated fields as Biotechnology depends on laboratory techniques of microbiology and for further developing in microbiology we are dependent on Biotechnolog, it is common to share same job opportunities. BSc Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, this includes various organisms like a unicellular, cluster of microscopic animals, viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
In short Biotechnology mainly depends on Microbiology. There is no comparsion. Both have equally opportunity. And salary range is almost same
