Considering you are asking about admission to Government seats in medical colleges of Karnataka.
The seats in colleges of Karnataka are classified into four categories-
1. Government Seats
2. Private Seats
3. NRI Seats
4. Others Seats
Other State students will be eligible for admission to private seats and others seats category.
Types of Seats
1.
Government Seats
- Seats in Government Colleges and Government share of seats in private colleges.
Domicile is not just the only requirement. Other factors are also considered. For Government Seats, the eligibility clauses are as follows-
Clause a
- Candidate should have studied for a minimum period of seven academic years commencing from 1st standard to 2nd PUC/ 12th standard and passed from Government or Government recognised institute located in Karnataka.
Clause b
- Candidate should have studeied and passed either 1st or 2nd Pre- University examination within the state of Karnataka from any institute recognized by Government of State and that either of the parents should have studied in Karnataka for a minimum period of seven years.
Clause c
- Candidate and either of the parent's mother tongue should be Kannada, Tulu, or Kodava and either of the parent should have domicile of Karnataka. Such candidates should have qualified the qualifying examination from any institute located outside Karnataka and should also be residing outside Karnataka. Candidate will also have to undergo Kannada Language test.
Clause d
- Candidate whose mother tongue is Kannada, Tulu or Kodava and candidate should have studied for seven years between 1st and 12th standards in disputed Kannada speaking areas of South Sholapur or Akkalkot or Jath or Gadhinglaj Taluks of Maharashtra State or Kasargod or Hosadurga or Manjeshwar Taluks of Kerala State.
Candidate will also have to undergo Kannada language test.

2. Private Seats
Private seats means seats in Private Colleges (KPCF, AMPCK, and KRLMPCA)
There are two types of Private seats- General merit Private Seats (GMP seats) and Open Seats (OPN Seats). Candidates of Karnataka can take admission to the GMP Seats and candidates from All over India can take admission in the Open seats.
42% of seats are for KPCF colleges and 55% of seats for KRLMPCA and AMPCK college.
3. NRI Seats
NRI Seats in the KPCF, KRLMPCA and AMPCK colleges are reserved for NRI Quota candidates.
4. Other Seats
Other seats in KPCF, KRLMPCA and AMPCK college. These seats are open for all the NEET UG Qualified candidates except NRI/PIO/OCI and Foreign National.
If you are not a domicile of Karnataka and doesnot fulfill any of the eligibility clauses, you can take admission under Private seats and other seats category.
