Can anybody give a review of kls Gogte college of engineering - belgaum

This college is a worst college that you can get into. This college stinks like their toilets. Yeah! You can smell toilets everywhere. The ground floor toilet stink can be felt up-to 100 meters from it. I feel they are only cleaned when some inspection authorities like NBA, NACC etc visit the campus.

Coming to academic part,





I will write with respect to my department because commenting on other departments without prior knowledge is injustice.





I would say some labs and some classes are decent, not all, and entire corridor is flooded during rainy season.





Some senior professors(4–5) are really good and 2 new recruits having industrial experiences are great(As heard from my juniors). Expect these entire department is waste. Yes, ask them to write code for checking whether string is palindrome, I bet my life, they cannot solve it without googling. I assure. They need to be taught programming before they teach students. During labs they just display the code and ask us to copy it FAST, type it and take printouts. In all the labs that I have attended none of them have traced the program and made us understand. They are just behind theoretical part.





Placements are below average. Don’t get excited with they numbers they gloat and the package they portray. It’s all made up. TCS and other mass recruiters are portrayed as Google or Facebook here. Placement office should not just be TCS advertisers. You should not be completely dependent on them.





Food here as got better these days due to new canteen that has been opened. You can get decent food at very affordable price.





My advice to the management





Try to find the fault in your system not just in the students.





Many deserving students score well in IAs but fail in VTU exam, Colleges should find out the solution for this. Colleges should unite and raise the matter with higher authorities. It really hurts when you write exam well, yet fail or score less in VTU exam. Everybody knows it, even professors, principle , why don’t they act?( My advice to all the colleges under VTU not just GIT).





Maintain clean toilets.





Deal with those professors who can’t teach properly strictly. It’s waste of resource. Holding up increments or any other thing doesn’t make them better at teaching. There are really a lot of good professors our there, hire them!





Don’t make VTU batch suffer because of new autonomous system. Keep IA’s every month accordingly. Not like 1st IA in 45 days, 2nd in 30 days, 3rd in 15 days. Lives of 1000+ students matter not just of those in autonomous.





Git had a cutoff rank of 6000 for CSE when I just joined. Now it has dropped to 10000+. It’s high time management should act. KLE is out there, I bet if this continues, it will surely overtake in next 2 years. It’s hard to get the reputation back.





So don’t just create a bubble of achievement, you feel that you have achieved a lot but actually you haven’t. You have just moved a needle.





I repeat don’t create the illusion of achievements. It will fade. It’s high time to act. I hope somebody from management reads it.
