JEE exam is conducted at two levels - mains and advance. The candidates who pass the mains examination is allowed to appear for the advance exam and based upon the rack scored IITs, NITs, IIITs, other government and private colleges are allotted to the students.
The paper is of 360 marks in total, with an equal weightage of chemistry, physics and mathematics 120 marks each. The minimum passing marks are different every year depending upon the difficulty level of the questions and several other factors.

Jee main is an entrance exam for elligible Jee Advance. This exam is for admission in NIT , IIIT and gftis college on the basis of the rank obtained .
Elligiblity criteria for Jee main :
Minimum 75% marks are required in cbse board .
And under top 20 percentile of any other board.
It is an national level exam .
They will allow only three time from current year of completion 12 th .

The JEE Mains Examination is an entrance examination for engineering after class 12 board exams. It gets you a seat in government engineering colleges like NITs, IIITs and other CFTIs. If you clear the JEE Mains examination cut off, you can sit for the JEE Advanced paper which is for the seats in IITs. There is also a paper 2 in JEE Mains for entrance to B.Arch or B.Planning courses.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.
JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST candidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
