can anyone say about the placement for biotechnology btech in nit Durgapur with package...and also the scope by gate ....and how to get chance in abroad for phd
Hi P.M,
National Institute of Technology, Durgapur is one of the newly opened NIT in India. The package varies every year so does the placement percentage.
See, Biotechnology is a branch that is mostly focused in chemical engineering pronciples and applied biology that are considered in the sense of living. See, you can grow and study this field but after that you can grow more and more in future without any problem.
The average package lies in the range of 4 to 6 lakhs and the salary lies in the range 25 thousand to 2 lakhs. It depends upon the skills.
Better to look for learning and growing.

Thank you and good luck:)
Hey
Placements of biotech in Nit Durgapur is not satisfactory. Because biotech is a research oriented field…. core companies won't be recruiting you. Moreover, if they recruit you they will be giving you less package around 2- 3 lpa. Mostly core biotech companies don't visit Nit Durgapur. Only one core company….Intas pharmaceuticals visited which gave a package of 3 lpa. If you are interested in non core sectors like marketing , business analyst etc….you are eligible to sit….but most companies won't allow biotech students to sit. Companies like Capgemini, Mu Sigma , HSBC, Tredence, Axis Bank, Futures First, Zs Asssociates allow students from every branch to sit.If u're interested in jobs just after btech… biotech is not a good branch. Mass companies like TCS, Wipro and few consultancies allow biotech people to sit. If u're interested in teaching ……you can join coaching companies like Aakash , Resonance etc.
I think if u're interested in placements biotech is not a good branch to opt. Because you have to mainly depend on non core companies. Core companies only recruit when u have high qualifications. Thats why it's better to go for higher studies if are interested in biotechnology. Else if you want placements just after btech CSE, IT, ECE, mechanical are the best ones. The placement stats of chemical and metallurgy is satisfactory.
