It may now be possible for students to apply for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2024 if they have completed their B.Ed. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) updated the requirements for CTET Exam 2024 eligibility. A Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree is typically required in order to teach in Indian schools. Teaching in Government Schools, Army/Air Force Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, and DSSSB is mandatory. The two-year BEd program trains teachers to instruct students in grades six through twelve.

Hello there,

Yes, B.Ed students can be eligible for CTET Paper 1 under certain conditions. Typically, CTET Paper 1 is for candidates aiming to teach Classes 1 to 5 (Primary level). The eligibility criteria include:

  • Having a D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) or a similar qualification.
  • B.Ed holders can also be eligible if they complete a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education, as mandated by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) .

Therefore, B.Ed graduates may need to take this bridge course to be eligible for Paper 1 . However, they are directly eligible for CTET Paper 2 , which is for teaching Classes 6 to 8 .

Make sure to verify specific updates with the official CTET guidelines.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

Hello,

Yes, B.ED students can appear for the paper 1 of CTET, but there are certain conditions attached to it. The new rule formulated by NCTE says that students with the degree of B.Ed. can apply for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of CTET. However, to become eligible to sit for Paper 1, B.ED. The graduates have to undergo a brief bridge course in elementary education as contemplated by NCTE.

Expansion of Eligibility was brought in to bridge the gap for qualified teachers in primary schools. The B.Ed. qualification holders, in general, are appropriate for higher classes 6-8. However, after completing the bridge course, they may also look after primary classes with D.El.Ed. qualification for Paper 1.
