Male nursing has been a very old phenomenon in India. Those who have scored good marks in the nursing sector can find out some remarkable jobs in hospitals and care taker institutions. With the continuously increasing demand for the male nurses, more and more people are coming forward to make their career in the medical industry.

With a successful degree or diploma in nursing, male candidates can find jobs for themselves in emergency wards, male wards, operation theatre and psychiatry etc. They also work with the ambulance bus to lift patients from one place to another.

The minimum age shall be 17 years and the maximum age shall be 35 years to take admission in any college.


B) The minimum qualification shall be 10 + 2 in any stream or equivalent


GNM – General Nursing Midwifery


A) Minimum and Maximum age will be 17 and 35 years.


B) Minimum education shall be 10+2 with Science (PCB) & English.



B. Sc. (N) – Bachelor of Science in Nursing


A) The minimum age shall be 17 years.


B) Minimum education shall be 10+2 with Science (PCB) & English Core.



M. Sc. (N) – Master of Science in Nursing


A) The candidate must have an experience of working as a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife of equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.


B) The Minimum education shall be the passing of: B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. Hons. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. in nursing with minimum marks of 55%.

Most importantly, it’s also very convenient to apply for the work visa and emigrate in foreign countries.  When it comes to qualified male nurses, most of the developed countries like USA, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada and Australia generally look for those aspirants who have a diploma or degree certificate in nursing.


Once you complete your male nursing course from a recognized university/college, there are chances of securing your job in different forms:


a)      Home Care Helpers

b)      Nursing Aides

c)       Psychiatric Aides
