As according to the query you have asked for, i would like to convey that not all the colleges will provide you this facility, but some of the private colleges can help you to pursue you Masters degree in Physics even if you have done B.Tech from the Mechanical Branch.

As you can also apply for the JAM exam that were conducted by the IIT to help the engineers who want to pursue Masters degree in Physics and other Subject in one of the top institutions of India.

Yes, a B.Tech Mechanical Engineering student can apply for M.Sc. Physics course. The Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc. Physics course is that you should have a Bachelor's degree. And you have the B.Tech degree, so you are eligible.
