I don't hink so as this department is a relatively new one when compared to Mechanical, civil or electrical engg, at IITB but currently has one of the most promising future among all core core dept. That is typically because of the fact that whole world is now looking to change from conventional form of energy sources (thermal, hydro, coal, oil,etc) to non-conventional form of energy (solar, wind, geo-thermal, etc).

But yes you can opt for Geo-thermal or Renewable.

Yeah definitely you can be able to shift your respective branch of Civil Engineering department to the Energy Science and Engineering from the IIT Bombay Institute via your Gate Valid score but before that you should be full cautious with your this decision such that you won't suffer afterwards .

sorry to say but it is not possible for civil engineering student to get admission into energy science IIT Bombay for MTech. Only student who have done engineering from mechanical ,automobile ,thermal , aero, electrical and metallurgical engineering eligible
