Can I buy Chromebooks instead of laptops only for college use ?

Laptop is better option than Chromebook.
You can't install the full Microsoft Office software on a Chromebook. if you need advanced photo- and video-editing capabilities, you'll would require , Mac or Linux laptop. Chromebooks don't offer the graphics performance. Chromebook is good option if you just want to use Netflix, YouTube and Spotify and other entertainment portals. For college and study purpose, a laptop with lastest windows is best option.

Both ie, Chromebook and Laptops have a lots of similarities, so as you have more interest of buying Chromebook than surely you can go for it just one thing i would suggest you to do is that firstly you can get in touch with your officials and try to get details that the usage of college work can be done on Chromebook or not so they will give you a satisfactory solution regarding your problem and than you can easily choose what so ever you are willing for.
