diploma in mechanical engineering passed students are eligible to take lateral entry admission in btech from second year in below mention stream,

auto mobile engineering

mechanical engineering

production engineering

Yes you can change your branch into some other branch after pursuing mechanical branch in diploma. But for that you need to qualify and secure a seat on your merit itself. The competition will increase and you need to secure good score and good merit rank as well to qualify in some other branch.
