If you are specifically talking about elective subject or just a single subject, then all you need to do is mailing your college authority regarding change of subject or if you have the contact details of any senior teacher , you may ask them regarding it. If college class has not started yet then mail the college , since it's your first year, changing subject won't be a problem, you can do it easily.
