Hello, Naina.
Do not make this error.
According to the rule, if you have not engaged in JOSAA counselling and are planning to apply for CSAB counselling directly, you will be denied. Only those applicants who have participated in JOSAA counselling but did not receive any seats or requested seats in the JOSAA round are eligible for CSAB counselling.
You should be aware that only CSAB comes into play when seats in JOSAA are left empty; nevertheless, if no seats are left vacant in JOSAA, you will not be able to participate; thus, you must compete in JOSAA anyway. Let's pretend that those seats were empty throughout JOSAA counselling, and that they must now be filled in some way.
There is a separate organisation called the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) that assists these premium institutions in filling vacant seats.
If you are intending to attend CSAB counselling, please attend JOSAA counselling even if you do not have a chance to secure a seat.
