Yes at IITs some Professors Invite application for Summer Intern. You need to find the Professor whose research areas match your interest. If that professor does not formally ask for the application you may then write a mail asking whether You can do an internship with them or Not. While asking you must be a student who is really passionate about your interest in the research areas.
