Let me clear you that, with 50% marks in 12th you can surely give the JEE Mains exam. Because, to qualify for JEE Mains, there is no minimum aggregate percentage criteria, but yes if you want to take admission into NITs, IIITs or CFTIs then you should score a minimum aggregate of 75% in your class 12th if you belongs to General/Unreserved category and 65% if you belongs to any of the reserved category.
Now as you have 50% in 12th, so while taking admission in some NIT, etc. it would be difficult for you, because you will not satisfy their eligibility criteria.
