You cannot directly join  regular 2 years M.Sc program after 12th standard. But you can join 5 years B.Sc+M.Sc after 12th class. You can opt for this course path, research is your prime goal, because after this 5 year course, you might be allowed to join PhD in the same discipline without any entrance exam.But not many institutes offer 5 years integrated course in genetic engineering. So you may have to explore universities outside India if this is what you wish to pursue. Otherwise, you can follow the regular pattern, which is 3 years B.Sc in genetics,biology,biotech or any relevant field followed by 2 year M.Sc in genetic engineering or B.Tech .

Basic eligibility criteria for admission in MSc includes;

• You should have completed 10+2 Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology.
• Admission to B. Tech. Genetic Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering is made generally through an entrance test.
• You should have completed B.Sc. under any registered university in respective subjects like Zoology, Botany, Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences in Science stream.

So if you have done BSc then you can surely apply for any MSc colleges for genetic engineering.

But the Admission process will vary from one College to another.

As far I know you can not do masters without graduation.But in some cases or very rare, there are exceptions as some universities will allow you to pursue a master's degree first. But only if you can demonstrate relevant experience and your overall postgraduate application is very strong.
