Can I get a govt. Medical college for MBBS if I get 395 marks in NEET 2019? I am in general category.
NEET 2024: Cutoff (OBC, SC, ST & General Category)
NEET 2024 Admission Guidance: Personalised | Study Abroad
NEET 2025: Syllabus | Most Scoring concepts | NEET PYQ's (2015-24)
Greetings!
Congratulations for your great score ,
BRAVO!
Now the marks and cut off is never constant so it is hard to say the exact value till the results are out
It depends on external factors like exam difficulty level, amount of students appearing and on internal factors like, your category ,age and score so we can only make a vague idea
Since the level of competition is increasing daily only must have a window of atlest 10 marks up or down the given data
for getting into a government college you need atleast above 560(for all india quota).Which is not possible in your case
although the state to state cutoff varies, and you might have a chance there, which largely depends on your state colleges and the competion too
getting into a government medical college is the most difficult for general category
but do not lose hope, you still have a chance.
hope for the best
NEET(UG) -2019 was a comparatively balanced paper than last year. Physics as usual was a tough nut to crack and biology gave students some respite with nearly 75+ questions being directly from NCERT. Chemistry was the differentiating section and whoever did more than 30+ questions can be on the safer side.
With nearly 11-12 lakhs students having given NEET the competition is exorbitantly high and nothing less than 550+ can be said to be a good bet for admission into any goverment medical college from the general category. Even BDS would require something above 500+.
Don't be disheartened however. If you have any state domicile you might as well try for medical colleges in your state. You may get BDS or agriculture.
Good Luck!
Hello Mahima!
By getting 395 out of 720 ,you are ,according to the rules, qualifying for counseling , but since colleges are awarded in subsequent round of counselling in the descending order of ranks, so it will be most likely that you will not get admitted to a government MBBS or BDS college although you are eligible to apply for seats in the private sector
In order to avail the 85% state quota you need to get a score of above 500 possibly above 550 to get into a good MBBS Government College and score of above 400 to get into a good BDS college
For the 15% all India quota your rank ,definitely needs to be high enough and you need to score above 550 to avail the seats in the best medical colleges across India via this category
Unless your school is above 450 you should not be thinking of getting into a government medical college I presume
If you are holding a certificate of reservation in the form of SC or St marks may drop by around 20 to 30 at maximum 50 from what I've said but not more than that.
Hope this will help you!.
Thanks!
