can i get a particular branch if my rank is below the opening rank for that branch?

Hi Devesh,

Yes, you will get the branch even if your rank is below the opening rank. But your rank must not be below the closing rank. Your rank must be within opening and closing rank.

Opening rank is the first rank with which a student took admission in that particular year.

Closing rank is the last rank for admission.

These vary every year.



Let's take the opening rank 109 and closing rank 400 in 2017.

Suppose your rank is 199 in 2018. Then you will get admission mostly.

Your rank is 100. Then also you'll get admission easily.

If you rank is 459. Then the chances are less.

Nice explanation...
But I wanted to ask, what do opening rank mean here if we can get admission with rank 100 and opening is 109 to closing 400?
