To get admission in Government engineering colleges, the entrance examination is a must.Government engineering colleges conduct joint entrance exams on national levels like AIEEE or IIT-JEE. The examination is conducted by the HRD Ministry.
Admission in private engineering college may happen with or without an entrance test, but you might have to pay a donation.There are even consultancies which provide direct admission in B.Tech/engineering college without any donation.
To get direct admission in BE colleges, a candidate needs to pass his 10 and +2 examination with a minimum of 50% marks (Average) in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.It depends upon the colleges to set the bar on the minimum marks in the said subjects. Some colleges prefer scores above 60% whereas others accept it even when it is 40%.
However, just getting the acquired score does not make you qualify to enter the college.
Top Engineering colleges usually conduct entrance exams for students to get direct admission.
These are some of the top engineering colleges which are recognized by AICTE, and the entrance examination is held on a national platform.
Other private universities and colleges also conduct entrance exams under their own supervision. Whereas there are many colleges, who do not conduct any entrance exams.
