Yes you can definitely get admission. But scoring good would not be enough. You need to do exceptionally well. Looking at your academic profile, you would perhaps need to score 100 percentile. It is definitely achievable if you have the dedication. Go for it and give it your best shot.
All the best!
For getting an admission in IIM A, you need to score above 99.5 percentile. Being amongst the top B schools of the country, this is a dream college for all the students giving CAT.Therefore, you will have to buck up and give your best in CAT
Mayur IIM Ahmedabad is the best MBA college in our country and one of the top 25 colleges in the world. So, you can imagine the competition and perfection needed to enter into such a college for pursuing your MBA degree.
First of all, to get into IIM Ahmedabad you need to score above 99.7 percentile in CAT exam. Even after scoring above 99.7 percentile it is not enough to get a call from IIM Ahmedabad. After CAT exam every IIM prepares a merit list to call students for next round of interview based on your aggregate score which comprises of many parameters such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non-engineer, gender whose weight varies for all different IIMs.
In the case of IIM Ahmedabad, it sets up a minimum score for every category student which you need to get by 10th, 12th, graduation percentage, work experience, gender, engineer or non-engineer with all these factors. Crossing the minimum score is very necessary in order to get a call for the second round because if you are not able to cross minimum score then irrespective of your CAT percentile you won't get a call for the second round. Two of my friends one in CAT 2015 got 99.81 percentile and other in CAT 2016 got 99.87 percentile didn't get a call from IIM A because of average academic records. After you cross this minimum score then your total aggregate score with different weightage is made and then when you get the name in merit list you get a call for second round of WAT and interview.
After that, you need to perform very well in the second round so that when again a new aggregate score is made with the marks of WAT & Interview then you can get your name in the final merit list which is used to give admissions.
As you have an average academic record, so probability for you to get a call for the second round is less. Hoping that you have a good graduation percentage then you will need to aim for 99.9+ percentile in order to have some chance of getting a call for the second round from IIM Ahmedabad.
Feel free to ask if you have any more queries. All the best!!
