Hello aspirant
During first round of AIQ counseling or state counselling, it's easy to go for upgrade and exit also but once you enter into second round then process get little bit tough and then you have to make decisions otherwise you will have chance to loose security deposit.
If you get a seat in first round of AIQ counseling then go report the college allotted and ask for upgrade options. So by doing this your seat will get fully secured and you will not loose that college even if you didn't upgrade. In the mean time you can participate in state counselling,so if you have good marks then there also you may get allotted a college,if it is of your choice complete the addmission process. After completing this you must surrender your AIQ seats before the time given to you otherwise if you once enter in second round of AIQ,there is no free exit, you will left with two options either you take admission in allotted/upgraded college in round two or you forfeit your security deposit money.
You can also participate in second round AIQ without reporting the college also if you do that you will not have secured seats and you may get same college/ upgraded college or you may loose seat also but there's a profit that you will not have to run here and there for taking addmission and then surrender.
So that's why I will suggest check the previous year cut off for your desired college in both AIQ counseling and State counselling, according to that do your counselling. So that you get the college you deserve also and you don't loose money.
There is different counselling for both AIQ and state so check that also and work accordingly.
