Yes of course. Firstly you have to sit for the entrance exam of DU in your respective subject. The selection process is marit + entrance base.

So it is important to sit in the exam or it can be done on merit base

You have to sit for entrance exam. After that the university will decide judging your merit and entrance marks whether you're selected or not.
