500 is a good score in NEET. But, since you are from the general category, chances of getting a government college is very less. It's not impossible though. The cutoff rank changes every year depending on the difficulty of the paper, and the number of candidates appearing for it. So maybe you can get a government college in 2nd round of counseling. 550+ marks would have been safe to get a government college in the 1st round. You should still try, and apply for counseling.
Hope this answer helps you.
Good luck!!
It's little bit difficult. Because cutoffs of government MBBS colleges state quota usually have cutoffs in the range of 500 only and above for state students. States like Rajasthan, Maharashtra have even higher cutoffs in the range of 540-580 marks. Since there is only 15% All INDIA quota seats reservation, cutoffs in almost all the states for these seats are usually a but higher maybe 520-530 and above and even as high as 600 and above in some states. Having said this cutoffs keep fluctuating from year to year as they depend on various factors like number of candidates appearing and also the paper level difficulty, etc.
So do give your best and do apply if you have this score under AIQ in available colleges, hopefully you'll get one. Or you may surely get a decent pivate college or maybe you can try in your state government college itself.
Mention your state so that I can guide you better. Feel free to ask any queries in the comments section below.
Best wishes. Thank-you.
