Admission into ST. Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore in Engineering courses in based on merit in KCET. However, for Karnataka Christian candidates the admission is based on entrance test conducted by Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minority Professional Colleges Association (KRLMPCA). The eligibility criteria to get admission is that a candidate must have passed 10+2 with English as one of the languages  and with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology, Electronics  and must have scored minimum 45% aggregate marks in optional subjects for candidates belonging to general category, for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC it is minimum 40% aggregate marks.

So if you wish to join under Government quota then you need to appear for KCET. If you are Karnataka Christian then you need to appear for KRLMPCA.
