After completing diploma from any university and from any stream wheather you are from electrical branch or any ,. it doesn't matter there is  exam  in university for for lateral entry on that exam score you will get a new branch in which you will persue you btech.

Although many engineering colleges accept lateral entries in the second year of the BTech program, SRM does not have any such pathway for diploma students. Lateral entries are rarely accepted into any engineering program offered by SRM and you may have to take admission as a first year student if you are keen on seeking admission to the Electrical engineering program offered by SRM university.
