Yes, after doing M.Tech in Environmental Science and Engineering, you can apply for the UGC NET exam.
Aspirants may appear for the examination with the subject in which they have completed their post-graduation or related to that subject as per the UGC NET exam guidelines. So, you can appear for the UGC NET exam with Environmental Science subject.
If you want to apply, then here is a golden chance because the UGC NET 2019 Application Form process has been started by NTA for the UGC NET June 2019 exam. Before applying for the exam make sure you meet all the exam eligibility criteria. You should have at least 55 % aggregate marks in post-graduation according to the examination guidelines.
For JRF you have to fulfill age criteria also. Your age must not more than 30 years if you related to General category. Reserved category candidates get the 5 years relaxation in age criteria.

Hello Shubham. For appearing in UGC NET, it is mandaratory for a candidate to clear the Post Graduates before applying for UGC NET.
As you have already completed your M.Tech, so yes you are eligible to sit in UGC NET. You can choose Environmental Science as a subject to appear in UGC National Eligibility Test.
Exam Pattern for UGC NET in Environmental Science:
-You will have to face two papers namely Paper 2 and Paper 3 in a time duration of 3 hours.
-The syllabus will consist of 300 marks.
-Paper 2 will carry 50 multiple choice questions with 2 marks each. (2x50=100)
-Paper 3 consists of 2 Parts in which Part A deals with the short answers (around 300 words approximately) and carries 16 marks each. (10x16= 160). Part B will consist of only one question which will carry 40 marks and must be answered in minimum 800 words. This part will consist of 2 questions from the syllabus and you have to choose any one of them.
-You will have a total of 100+160+40 = 300 marks for this Exam.
Syllabus for UGC NET in Environment Science:
-Environmental Science, Ecosystem, Geographical Classification of Earth, Thermondynamics, and basic environmental terms like temperature, humidity, precipitation and more.
-Fundamentals of Environmental Chemistry, Water Chemistry, Soil Chemistry, Toxic Chemicals Study and principles of analytical methods like chromatography, flames, x-ray, atomic absorption.
-Flora, Fauna and different species and categories like Vulnerable, Engangered, Extinct and threatened species.
-Study of earth, resources studies like air, water, social and various minerals found on earth, planning of managing resources, solar radiation, gases, fuels.
-Environmental Planning and analysing various harmful impacts and preparing for it. Waste Managemental, Environmental Awareness and techniques or methods to eradicate environmental issues and problems.
What after the exam?
After qualifying this examination, you will be eligible to pursue Junior Research Fellowship Program under your related subject. The government will provide you a scholarship of Rs. 14,000 per month for the first 2 years and then 15, 000 per month till the remaining course.

Going by your inclination for UGC-NET it is quite evident that you want to pursue your career in academia and move to teaching positions/research position as soon as you complete your post graduation. The UGC-NET is an exam for qualifying as Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) /Assistant Professor in Indian universities.
The examination has two papers where one of them tests whether the candidate is eligible for the teaching positions which includes comprehension, reasoning, general awareness, divergent thinking, and this exam would go on for 1 hour, while the second paper would test the candidate's skill and knowledge in the subject one is applying for and it's a 2 hours examination. So ,on the whole, the exam would have 150 questions which is divided as 100 for paper 2 and 50 questions for paper 1. The examination will be based on MCQ and there is no negative marking.
Before answering your question, let's look at the eligibility to appear for UGC-NET this time.
Going by your degree, you could very well apply for the Environmental science specialization. Before you go for the exam, make sure that you have thoroughly thought out your career prospectus as this exam would take you to the academic world and that stays long.
The exam notification is out and the last date to apply is March 30, 2019. So hurry up and apply before it's too late. This is the second session of the year and would be held in June 2019 respectively.
