Hi aspirant,

No you can't be a merchant navy officer by completing BTech degree in mechanical engineering. However you can apply for jobs related to mechanics and relevant at decks but those are contract jobs. The best way to be eligible for the same is by completing GME course but it less valued. There are mainly three ways by which you can be a merchant navy officer:

1) Bsc/BTech in marine engineering

2) Bsc/BTech in nautical science

3) Diploma in nautical science

Since you have an undergraduate degree in engineering you will get direct entry in the second year of program. You will need to appear for IMU CET examination to obtain a degree from recognised college with an exception of Tolani maritime University.

Hope it helps!!
