It belongs to more of chemical engineering and also has some parts related to mechamical engineering. It is related to lot of metals and materials. Metallurgy is itself a stream in engineering it is a separate core branch it does not comes under any other branch, in general it is a subject of mechanical engineering but you study it like a separate core branch because many company require candidates with complete knowledge in metallurgy.
