With reference to your above mentioned query, I would like to tell you that yes, you can pursue PG IN Medical Biotechnology after completing and studying Plant biotechnology in UG.

Medical Biotechnology is the study of living cells and organisms to research, develop and produce pharmaceutical and diagnostic products that are used to treat and cure human diseases. In medical science and technology, this is a very vast field with a lot of career options to choose from. This field of study is used across various fields like pharmacology, gene therapy, tissue engineering etc. One can say that this is a field of study that connects medical science with technological aspects. A lot of medical research and development centres are always hiring medical biotechnologists for different purposes ranging from new concepts for a new medicine to the development and production of the new medicine.

Further, the Eligibility criteria for both UG and PG in Medical Biotechnology is given as follows :

  • In order to pursue B.Sc or B.Tech in Medical Biotechnology, a candidate must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 70% marks overall and should have Physics , Chemistry , Maths or Physics, Chemistry, Biology as core subjects.

  • In order to pursue M.Sc or M.Tech in Medical Biotechnology, a candidate must have passed their B.Sc or B.Tech in Medical Biotechnology with a minimum of 50% marks overall.

  • For PhD in Medical Biotechnology, a candidate must have passed their M.Sc or M.Tech in Medical Biotechnology with a minimum of 55% marks overall or a minimum of 7 CGPA out of 10 CGPA scale.

  • Any student can pursue a diploma degree after completing 10+2 with PCM or PCB as core subjects.


Further, below are some of the job profiles along with their respective average salary that you can check after Medical Biotechnology :

Sr. Associate Scientist - 6-10 lakh per annum

Research Biochemist - Rs. 5.7 lakhs to Rs. 8 lakhs p.a

Lab Technician - Rs. 3.5 lakhs to Rs. 5 lakhs

Production Manager - Rs. 7.5 lakhs to Rs. 12 lakhs p.a.

Biochemist - Rs. 4.8 lakhs to Rs. 10 lakhs p.a.

Dear applicant as we all know Medical Biotechnology is a flourished career option to pursue, however if you check the eligibility criteria of the course you would find out you need to complete your 10+2 with Physics Chemistry Biology as your subject combinations followed by passing B.Sc Life Sciences or B.Sc in Medical Biotechnology or an equivalent B.Tech as well, most of the college do accept B.Sc Plant Biotechnology students for PG in Medical Biotechnology too. Do check the eligibility criteria of the individual college where you are applying through their information brochure,

Yes, you can pursue the course abroad and jobs perspective is higher.

For Medical Biotechnology, a candidate should have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 70% marks overall and should have Physics, Biology as core subjects, Chemistry and Maths.
