Hello,

Amidst the 81 subjects offered in UGC NET, English is one of it,  UGC NET consists of two paper, first one is common for all subject which is general paper on research and teaching aptitude while second is specific to your field, for english it has various sections related to drama, poetry, fiction, short story, non-fictional prose which are tested through comprehensive passages, the rest of the sections includes basic concepts, theories, pedagogy of language with use of English,  literary criticism, cultural studies, history, evolution and future of english language in india, literary theory post world war II, research methods and materials in english.

Now, if you're in anyway enquiring if you can only given exam on any one specific sections pertaining to paper II, then no it's not possible, questions come from various sections mentioned above, UGC NET is one of the tough exam, and you need to be thorough with the syllabus in order to qualify the same.
