Merchant Navy deals with commercial services. Admission to merchant navy is made through an entrance exam called AIMNET (all India merchant navy entrance test) followed by a screening test and a main written examination. After clearing the exam, candidates will go through an interview and a medical test. More than this, the shortlisted candidates need to complete a ship-training course prior to employment. The course is generally short-term where the candidates are taught basic security concerns of voyaging.
Eligibility criteria required for Merchant Navy are as follows:
