Hello Jaswanth,

There is no such particular significant difference in general and ews rank to get into an NIT and IIT; but from my experience of JEE main, as a part of it from last year; I'd like to share my experience of it.

EWS category has been in action since last year. The difference that EWS reservation creates is; provide you a better chance to attend JEE advance. As the cut off decreases significantly. Even though last year many eligible candidate didn't have an EWS certificate , in most of the situations the general category of EWS students have been same as that of other general category students for an NIT seat.

But on certain occasions, totally depending on luck for a particular branch EWS rank have been helpful. As it's only 10% reservation, your getting a better branch depends on other EWS candidates whose general rank is good enough to get in. If they decide to join through general rank and not through the EWS rank than only it'll be helpful for other EWS candidates with a lower chance to get in.

Hope this helps. Best of luck!
