The difference between All India Ranking and the State Ranking can be huge, depending on the number of students who have taken exam from your state and your marks compared to others in your state. For example, a candidate might have secured 65000 rank in AIR. The same candidate might have got 2000 rank in state ranking. There is also something known as category rank, which tells your rank in that particular category only. For example, if a candidate scored 15000 AIR and the category rank is 600 then it means among all the students who belong to that category he secured 600 rank.
