in order to prepare for JEE the very first step is to be thorough with your NCERT Books , you should be well versed with each and every example , every topic and every concept , do not underestimate NCERT when you read it properly you find several topics which are the basis for complex questions, now coming to other reference books which may help you:
- physics- HC Verma (concepts of physics), it is considered to be the most important book in JEE Preparation , after NCERT , try to cover all questions, and important concept from this book. ncert is necessary to be done for covering fact based questions.
- chemistry- for chemistry NCERT is sufficient since in JEE , the chemistry portion is mainly from ncert , so doing it would help you to answer maximum questions . for inorganic chemistry only ncert would do , but for physical chemistry N Awasthi , for organic chemistry MS Chauhan is the best.
- mathematics- RD Sharma is a must to solve the JEE Mains paper for the mathematics section, it will not only have a lot of questions but will also help you to answer a lot of understand the concepts in a much better way.
also, do not forget to solve lot of previous year question papers, giving mock tests and if you have your coaching study material read it and keep on practicing, also you may cover questions from NTA Abhyas.

There are various different books available for the preparation of various entrance exams like JEE, NEET, UPSC and many more.
Particularly talking for Joint Entrance Exam or JEE there are several books which are preferred by mostly students out there. There are topic wise books through which you can study to score better. Kindly check this out:
For Physics: HC Verma, Understanding physics by DC Pandey, Resnick Halidey and most important is the NCERT so don't forget to study all these as they play a huge part in building the concepts and for good preparation.
For Chemistry: NCERT, modern approach to chemical calculations, Organic chemistry by OP Tandon , Concepts of physical chemistry.
For mathematics: Sl Loney , RD Sharma, Algebra by Dr Goyal and most important NCERT.
SEE, you can easily prepare the course but for that you should be sincere and focused. Also regular studies plays a huge part in building the concepts with clearity.

For getting good score, you must give as many as possible mock test , solve previous year question. Also , make a time table mentioning the date and the chapter you will cover that day. This will help you from a lot of backlog.
