MTech in mechanical Engineering is a professional degree of 2 years. The course involves the study of mechanics, kinematics etc which will be used for construction purpose and in the installation of tools and machines.
Now to answer your question, Yes you can go for m.tech in mechanical engineering after b.tech in aeronautical engineering. Just you need to qualify Gate entrance exam in mechanical engineering with valid score to pursue m.tech course.

As per your query , I am very to inform you that for taking admission in mtech course you should have passed bachelors with 50 percent in Mechanical engineering stream only . I request you to kindly look private university options which are newly open may be they will you admission but their wont be any benefit . It is better to continue in your field as their is great demand of aeronautics
