Hello Student,
In JOSAA counselling, when you are allocated a seat in the counselling process, you are given a chance to freeze, float and slide the seat as per your requirement.
The explanation for these options is given below:
1. Freeze: If you are allocated a seat and you want to take admission in the allocated institute, you can freeze the seat. This means that, you are ready to take admission in the college and hence, you are not allowed to participate in the further rounds of counseling. You should take a note that, if you get the institute of the first preference, your seat is auto-freeze and you have to take admission in that institute only.
2. Float: If you are allocated a seat in an institute, other than the first preference, and you wish to go for betterment, you can float the seat. This means that you can go for further counselling process for getting the desired institute you want. If you don't get a seat in the further counselling process, you can take the floated seat in the previous institute and If you get a seat in the further counselling process, the old floated seat will be released and you have to go for the newly allocated institute and the seat. You can also again opt for the freeze, float and slide option for the new seat.
3. Slide: If you are allocated a desired institute but didn't get the required branch, you can opt to slide the seat. This means that, for the same institute, you can go for further round of counselling for a better preference of the branch than the current one.
I hope your query is solved..
