There are three best books for Political Theory.
O P Gauba, Andrew Heywood and Rajeev Bhargav.
You can choose any author according to your convenience.
2.Indian Polity and Government
You can use either Indian Polity by M. Laxmikant or DD Basu.
Current Affairs is also very necessary.
3.The Hindu or The Indian Express (Choose any newspaper according to your convenience)
4.Comparative Politics by JC Johari
5.Western Political Thought by Shefali Jha
6.Indian Political Thought by Bidyut Chakrabarty
(You can also refer book by VR Mehta)
7.Public Administration by Bidyut Chakrabarty
( You can also refer book by M. Laxmikant)
8.Political Process in India by Pratap Bhanu Mehta
Tips-
i.The syllabus is lengthy so you can refer to IGNOU Notes if you don't have much time.
ii.If you are preparing from books ,always make short notes.
iii.Learn Book Name and Authors like Aristotle,Laski,Plato,Karl Marx etc.
