The number of PG slots in MD and MS programmes was raised in the previous year. These seats will be available for the next 2020-21 academic year. The Board of Governors of the Medical Council of India (MCI BOG) has granted approval for this raise in the salary of its members.

Prof Dr VK Paul, the Chairman of the Medical Council of India Board of Governors, made the announcement to PTI. According to the article, the total number of PG medical seats would increase to 36,192 as a result of this permission.
