If you want the best, you have to compete. For top colleges you have to give entrance be it private or Government. So if you want to take admission in top colleges then you have to go for entrances. Now if you want you can go for relatively easy entrances like State Engineering Entrance or Institute specific engineering entrances like VITEEE, SRMEE etc. But in order to get the best you have to go for entrance examinations.
I hope this answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
As far as most of the Top Engineering Colleges in India are concerned, be it Government, State or Private Universities, they do have an Entrance Exam for B.Tech Seats. Some of them use JEE Main/Advanced Score for Admission Purposes, while most of the Reputed Private Universities have set up their own Entrance Test like COMEDK, BITSAT( BITS Pilani), VITEEE, SRMSAT, AEEE(Amritaa) and MUET MIT Manipal Entrance Test.
Simce, you are looking at easily securing a seat in CSe, I would suggest you to target some of the Private Entrance Exams. Besides being easier than JEE, some of them like VIT Vellore even give you options to secure a higher branch by spiking up your Tuition Fees under Certain Categories, besides having provisions of a Management Quota for Admission.
You must target VITEEE, MIT Manipal, SRMSAT, KIITEEE as well as COMEDK(Karnataka). They are gateways to some of the finest Private Engineering Colleges and have strong placements as far as CSE is concerned.
