Hi there,
Below I am mentioning the exam pattern of UPSC. It is one of the most popular and big name among students of Indian and large number of students appear for it even if the success rate is very low. Reason of this being that by qualifying this you get the apex position at Indian administrative service.
Below I am mentioning the steps of UPSC exam.
So basically UPSC has 3 stages.
1. Prelims papers :- It is just qualifying in nature. By qualifying it, you will get to sit in the next stage or say paper which is known as Mains. Note that the marks you score in Prelims exam will not make merit list.
Prelims have two papers.
These papers are of 2 hours duration.
2. After qualifying Prelims, you will sit in Mains.
Mains consists of 9 papers and it is descriptive in nature.
Now again the two papers of Mains are just for qualifying purpose and these are English and Compulsory indian language but rest papers will add up to make merit list.
3. Now comes the third stage which is very Important and this is Interview . After qualifying Mains, you have appear for interview where your A to Z knowledge will be checked.
I hope this information helps you.
