The Mechanical Engineering program is designed to provide students with a wide range of options. The discipline is very broad including areas such as mechatronics, energy science and technology, solid and fluid dynamics, computational simulation, micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), nano and micro-mechanics, propulsion, sensing and control design, biomechanical engineering.

For those interested in applied scientific and mathematical aspects of the discipline, graduate study in mechanical engineering can lead to a career of research and teaching.

Automobile engineering, marine engineering, ship building, robotics engineering, turbo-machinery engineering, aerospace engineering, environmental engineering, CAD/CAM, Tool Design, Production Engineering, Mechatronics and Computer Science engineering are promising higher education paths after graduation in Mechanical Engineering. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is one field where plenty of jobs are available, but the Computer Aided Engineering Companies like Honeywell, GE & Infotech etc., who need specialists in the CFD are not able to find suitable talent to fit into the job requirements.
